What to Pack for a Tanzania Safari

Clothing

Neutral colours: khaki, olive, stone and brown. Avoid bright white and dark blue or black, which attracts tsetse flies.

Layers matter more than warm-weather clothing. Early mornings in open vehicles and on the Ngorongoro rim are genuinely cold.

Essentials

Binoculars — the single best upgrade to your safari.

Wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen.

Insect repellent, any personal medication, and a small first-aid kit.

Camera with spare batteries and more memory than you think you need.

Luggage limits

Light aircraft transfers usually limit you to around 15kg in a soft bag. Plan for laundry at camps rather than packing for every day.
