Karatu Expedition Safaris is a Tanzanian safari company built around a simple idea: the people planning your trip should be the people who know the ground. We live at the edge of the northern circuit, and the parks we send you to are the ones we drive through week after week.

We keep our groups small, our vehicles private by default, and our advice honest — including when that means telling you a shorter trip or a different month would serve you better.

Karatu places us within easy reach of the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Tarangire and the road north into the Serengeti — some of the most celebrated safari country in Africa.

Every itinerary is put together by hand, for one group at a time, with the routes and timings chosen for the way you want to travel rather than a fixed departure schedule.
