The connection
Light aircraft link Serengeti airstrips and Arusha to Zanzibar, usually with one stop. You can finish a morning game drive and be swimming that afternoon.
How to split the nights
Five or six nights on safari and four to six on the coast is the balance most travellers are happiest with.
If you have only ten days, five and four works well with a travel day in between.
Choosing a coast
North-east for swimming at all tides, east for wide quiet beaches, north-west for sunsets and Stone Town access.
